Hi, I'm Thomas McTeer, inventor and patent holder of
the Scorpion bracket. I'm also an avid user of the Scorpion bracket.
The new small DV Camcorders are designed to be
held in front of your face, like a still camera, but they lack any way of bracing the camera against your body for stability.
This can make for wobbly shots, especially when the arms start getting tired. I didn't want to change the way you hold the
camcorder, just improve it. I built a bracket around the camcorder, not your shoulder, so the camcorder can be held
the way it was designed to be held, but with stability and weight relief. This is an ergonomic design.
But I wanted more. I wanted to get my camera light off
the camcorder's delicate accessory shoe and up high and centered so the light would be more modeled and flattering, while
also reducing falloff. The higher light also reduces the subject squinting when looking at the camera. I knew I wanted
to upgrade the onboard camera mic, along with adding a wireless microphone, which would require a two channel mixer within
easy reach. And I wanted this bracket to collapse down flat and small, to fit in my equipment case.
I built the Scorpion Bracket to turn small camcorders into production machines. Now your video productions will look
more professional with this patented technology. Scorpion Support will continue to bring unique new products to the video
market to make your jobs easier with a more professional look. |
